I was pleased to welcome Home Office Minister Robert Jenrick to Newcastle-under-Lyme this afternoon.
We knocked on doors in Wolstanton and listened to residents concerns about antisocial behaviour (ASB). I have lobbied the Government for extra funding to tackle ASB and was pleased when it was announced that Newcastle and Staffordshire would be part of a pilot policing hotspot project as part of the Antisocial Behaviour Action Plan. This will mean more support and funding for our local police so that perpetrators of ASB will face swift and visible justice.
This Conservative Government has provided Staffordshire with 296 extra police officers, and Newcastle is also now receiving £148,000 of investment to tackle anti-social behaviour thanks to the Government’s Safer Streets fund which will see more lighting, more CCTV, community clean ups, more alley gating and street pastors.
My ASB survey is still live and I would be grateful to find out what you think about it: https://www.aaronbell.org.uk/news/antisocial-behaviour-survey
Rob is also Minister for Immigration and one of the Prime Minister's five key priorities this year is to stop the boats. I am proud to support the Illegal Migration Bill, which will further toughen our defence against illegal immigration and offer a proper deterrence to dangerous illegal crossings of the English Channel.
From the answers in my immigration survey, it is clear that the majority of my constituents also agree that the Government needs to stop the boats. If you have not completed my survey yet, please do so here: https://www.aaronbell.org.uk/news/stopping-boats-immigration-survey
