I met earlier this afternoon with the new Minister responsible for waste, Jo Churchill MP, to impress upon her the seriousness of the Walley’s Quarry emissions and extend an invite for her to visit, to see (and smell) for herself.
Jo gave a commitment to make Walley’s her first visit to a waste site as the new Minister - the exact date is to be confirmed and I will update you as soon as I know.
Prior to the reshuffle, Jo had served as Public Health Minister, so she well understands that Walley’s is not just an environmental issue but a major public health concern. This is especially so in light of the judicial review judgement, which I am pleased to report she had already read in detail.
