Thank you to everyone who messaged me in advance of this debate: as you can see I was able to quote some of your emails during my speech.
I was grateful to a number of my colleagues who contributed similar stories from around the country - there are a great many similar instances where a landfill operator is complying with their licence and the law but yet residents are very unhappy with the odour.
I was also grateful to the Waste Minister, Rebecca Pow, for listening to my speech and responding on behalf of the Government. She is particularly keen to hear the results of the forthcoming scrutiny review that Newcastle Borough Council will be undertaking, as am I.
I would advise starting at 16:15 (the debate originally started at 16:00 but we were immediately interrupted by a vote in the House of Commons).
Best regards, Aaron
