I am very pleased to see that the Environment Agency have successfully convicted 5 individuals and 3 companies of illegal waste crimes in a prosecution brought about by the Environment Agency.
They entered guilty pleas for offences relating to the dumping of waste at Bonnie Braes Farm, Staffordshire:
Raymond Bowden has been sentenced to 30 months immediate custody and Joe Frizell, of T. W. Frizell Ltd, has been sentenced to two years immediate custody for their involvement in the waste crime operation which took place between March 2014 and June 2015.
James Bowden, director of Jumbo Waste & Metals Ltd, Victoria Webb-Johnson, of VWJ Earthmoving Ltd , and Stefan Paraszko were also given suspended sentences.
Three companies, Jumbo Waste & Metals Limited, T. W. Frizell Ltd and VWJ Earthmoving Limited were also fined.
I have been supporting local residents on this case since I became your MP back in 2019. I hope the resolution of the criminal cases will now allow more progress to be made on the issue of the broken culvert which has been causing flooding affecting nearby farms and other properties.
These verdicts show that the EA can, and do, prosecute and convict those waste criminals who break the law, and that the worst offenders do get sentenced to time in prison. I look forward to them continuing in this vein.
