Further to my recent letter to Staffordshire County Council leader, Alan White, and his response regarding HGVs queuing to get into Walley's Quarry landfill, Councillor White has provided me with an update. (see https://tinyurl.com/Letter-to-SCC-re-HGVs and https://tinyurl.com/Letter-from-SCC-re-HGVs).
In it, he confirms that after meeting with the operator, they will undertake a communications campaign to their user base about the planning permission to open the site earlier.
Officers from Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Police will also patrol the area looking for antisocial behaviour and drivers breaking the law.
The operator are encouraging people to report examples of poor behaviour. If you spot any HGVs queuing or parking badly, please email enquiries@walleysquarry.co.uk and supply photographs that identify the vehicle type and legible number plates, along with a note of the date, time and location.
Residents should also copy the County Council into that correspondence for their records at regulation@staffordshire.gov.uk
I would like to thank Alan and the County Council, as well as Staffordshire Police for their urgent action on this issue.
