Last week I had the honour of meeting with the Ukrainian soldiers receiving military training here in the UK at Lydd Training Camp.
These men (not all of them that young) were civilians only a few weeks ago and are receiving a very accelerated course in infantry warfare (they are in the UK for just 35 days). It was a very sobering experience to see their courage and determination first-hand.
I was so impressed with how much they have learned in such a short space of time, and trust and hope that their training will serve them well on the battlefield in Ukraine.
I was also very pleased to see that Ukrainian women, in the UK on the Homes for Ukraine scheme, were giving up so much of their time acting as translators for the training sessions.
I assured every soldier I spoke to that the British Parliament, and the British people are firmly behind them. Putin must lose, and Putin will lose. Slava Ukraini!
