It's great news out this morning that the national unemployment rate is at its lowest since 1974, and unemployment is falling in Newcastle-under-Lyme too!
The national figures released today show we now have a record number of 29.5 million employees on payroll – with the lowest unemployment rate since 1974.
And the figures for Newcastle-under-Lyme constituency show that there were 1,870 people claiming unemployment-related benefits, down 905 on a year ago and just 3.1% of the population aged 16-64. The equivalent UK claimant rate was 4.0%, so we are doing better than average.
