I was delighted to welcome Mrs Bailey, Headteacher at St John’s Primary School, Keele to Parliament. She was selected to join other educational professionals this week on the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador programme's 3 day residential course in Westminster.
The UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme aims to help teachers develop their understanding of Parliament and help them to deliver learning experiences exploring democracy and active citizenship in schools.
I was so pleased to see Mrs Bailey at a reception in Parliament and to hear about her trip, which included a visit to the Speaker's House and a tour of the House of Commons. Engagement and dialogue with young people is of fundamental importance to our democracy, and I look forward to hearing more about how she has brought what she has learned back to the school over the coming months.
Applications for the next cohort of Parliamentary Teacher Ambassadors close of 24 March 2024 and you can find the application form here: https://learning.parliament.uk/.../uk-parliament-teacher.../
