I commend our Government who have played a leading role in support of Ukraine over these past months in response to Putin's illegal invasion of Ukraine. This Government, along with the G7, has put the most powerful and toughest economic sanctions on Russia that we have ever done in our history.
The Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Liz Truss MP, set out what further sanctions the Government is aiming to implement with other G7 countries to cripple the Putin regime.
This included excluding all of Russia's key banks from the SWIFT financial system and committing to a timetable for reducing dependency on oil and gas.
I am glad that the Foreign Secretary agreed with me that nothing is off the table in terms of who or what we are targeting and that we may need to go further still.
