Leader of the Council, Simon Tagg, met up again today with artist Andy Edwards who has been commissioned to sculpt the statue of our late Queen Elizabeth II for the Queens Gardens. The detail is looking amazing!
The featured brooch was worn by Her Majesty on her visit to Newcastle in 1973 to celebrate the Borough's 800th anniversary, and was previously worn by Queen Mary and most recently by the Princess of Wales.
This new statue will be a marvellous addition to the gardens and a fitting tribute to one of our greatest ever monarchs.
