Yesterday I asked the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman what recent progress the Government has made on tackling organised immigration crime. I was pleased to hear the government is taking stronger action to stop this criminal activity at its source.
The people smugglers operating the boats from French waters are part of an international criminal operation that must be stopped. The existing asylum system costs the UK taxpayer billions of pounds each year and risks the lives of those involved.
Dismantling these criminal networks is a critical part of stopping the boats and securing our borders, as is our Immigration Bill which makes clear that those who arrive illegally will have no right to stay.
