A new road has opened on Monday to connect the Wolstanton junction on the A500 with Festival Park.
The intention behind building the £43 million Etruria Valley Link Road is to reduce congestion around the A500 Basford Bank roundabout. It will also allow for the building of more warehouses within the Ceramic Valley Enterprise Zone and thus help create more jobs.
The new road is one of the area's biggest transport infrastructure projects in decades.
Additionally, a full-scale Spitfire sculpture has gone on display on the road. The sculpture has been created by apprentices from KMF Group Ltd in Newcastle-under-Lyme. It is a tribute to the Staffordshire-born Spitfire designer Reginald Mitchell.
Local infrastructure like this road will be beneficial for residents travelling to and from work and beneficial to the economy, making logistics easier and cheaper. It is also great to see the Spitfire showing off our brilliant local talent.
