There is a new statement on the Environment Agency's dedicated Walley's Quarry webpage. The confirmed breach of the site permit (see graphic) is very concerning.
Clearly the odour *is* causing annoyance. I will continue to put the pressure on with the EA and at Westminster.
An extraordinary meeting of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has been called for Thursday 18th March at 7pm. Cllr Simon Tagg and others will be debating a motion to support Borough residents and calling for a suspension of operations. This will be broadcast live on YouTube.
I have also seen a number of photos and videos of the roads around the Quarry that are completely unacceptable. As County Councillor for Westlands and Thistleberry, Simon Tagg has written to the County Council, who have directed a planning officer to attend and demand that Red rectify the situation immediately.
