I am honoured and delighted to have been appointed as a Minister in the reshuffle, serving as a Government Whip.
Whips are responsible for managing the Government’s Parliamentary business, as well as liaising with colleagues. By convention whips do not speak in the Chamber but instead have direct access to Ministers, so constituents can rest assured I will continue to fight for Newcastle on all fronts, not least Walley’s Quarry.
I look forward to supporting the PM in getting on with tackling the challenges ahead, and meeting the Government's five priorities: halving inflation, growing the economy, reducing debt, cutting waiting lists, and stopping the boats.
I will, of course, continue to represent and work hard for the people of Newcastle-under-Lyme, who will always be my first priority.
