The Illegal Migration Bill is the only practical solution out there to stop the wicked people smuggling trade across the English Channel. The Prime Minister has made stopping the boats one of his top five priorities this year, and I am 100% behind him on that.
From reading the returns on the surveys I have been delivering across the constituency, it is clear that the majority of my constituents also agree that the Government needs to stop the boats.
Stopping the boats is a moral imperative, as I said in my recent Personally Speaking column (which you can read here: https://www.aaronbell.org.uk/news/personally-speaking-10)
However, ill-informed comments from celebrities on Twitter and elsewhere have sought to demonise the policy in what I consider to be completely unacceptable terms, comparing it to "1930s Germany".
I was glad that the Home Secretary agreed with me that such comments are not only ill-informed but represent a slander against the victims and survivors of the Holocaust.
The Home Secretary is right when she says that if you resort to those types of analogies then you have already lost the argument.
I am still interested in your views on the Bill and illegal immigration in general. Please fill out my survey below:
