I was delighted to be able to sponsor an event in Parliament today showing off the success of the HyDeploy project which was hosted in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
The HyDeploy project, in its first stage, saw hydrogen being blended into the live gas grid at Keele University between October 2019 and March 2021, providing a hydrogen blend to 100 homes and 30 university buildings. Adding hydrogen into the natural gas grid can lower CO2 emissions (the only emission from burning hydrogen is water) without disruption to households. This video is a brief summary of the project.
The event in Parliament marked the publication of the results of the hydrogen blending trial on the campus at Keele. I am proud of the leadership that Keele are demonstrating in advancing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions to help us reach Net Zero.
