I popped in to H Cheadle & Son butchers in Newcastle today to wish Henry Cheadle all the best for his retirement, and hand him a letter thanking him for his commitment and service over the many years he has run the shop in the town centre.
The butchers' business has been passed down the generations over an incredible 147 years, but will close its doors for the last time tomorrow after an amazing 77 years on the High Street.
Henry has always had a passion for his business, which shows in the loyalty of both his customers (some of whom have been shopping with him for over 50 years), and his staff, Mark (second left) and Neil (right), who have worked with him for an incredible 41 and 35 years respectively.
It is now time for him to put his feet up (at 76, with grandchildren to look after!) and have a well-earned rest.
The shop, at 89 High Street, is open tomorrow from 8am to 4pm tomorrow for the final time, so please do pay him a visit if you are in town.
