I visited Friends of the Guildhall last week to meet with Hilary Jones, Chair of Trustees, along with her fellow trustees and volunteers, and was delighted to nominate them as the recipient of £250 from my charity bet on the National - even though Mr Incredible unseated his rider, the BGC are still donating the cash
The Friends of the Guildhall obtained Charitable Incorporated Status in 2019, and are based in the Grade Two listed building in the centre of town, which dates from 1713. The group was formed to ensure the long term future of this iconic building and to maintain it as a public space.
The Friends provide a service for members of the public seeking advice and information, and the downstairs space and offices are available to rent for events such as craft groups, meetings and office space, as well as in the evenings and weekends.
Services include signposting the general public to local services, hosting visiting voluntary organisations, and providing information about societies and events.
You can find more information on the website at https://fotguildhall.org.uk/, along with details on room hire and becoming a Friend and/or volunteer.
