On Tuesday, I contributed to an adjournment debate held by my friend and neighbouring MP, Jonathan Gullis MP, on the cost of energy in the ceramics sector.
I know that many ceramics businesses in Newcastle - such as Silverdale Bathrooms and Ibstock Brick - are worried about energy prices at the moment, given Putin's war in Ukraine. I visited both firms last year and this was naturally their biggest concern.
The Government's Energy Bill Relief Scheme and its successor, the Energy Bills Discount Scheme, have been protecting businesses from high energy bills over the winter.
I am glad that the Government are providing support for both businesses and families during this difficult time and will also keep such support under review.
