I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!
The last couple of years have been tough following the inflationary spike that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine caused - with the consequent increase in the oil/gas price which fed into wider inflation.
But as we move into a new financial year things have turned a corner and Britain is on the up again:
Lower bills - the energy price cap, which we brought in to protect people from the worst of the oil price spike, is dropping by 12.3% today, SAVING a typical household nearly £250
Higher wages - today the national living wage goes UP from £10.42 to £11.44 per hour. Many people will be also be getting their annual pay increase
Lower taxes - National Insurance has already been CUT by 2% and today falls by another 2%, SAVING a household with 2 earners on £25k each a total of £1,000 a year
Huge CHILDCARE BOOSTS - our reforms (which Labour will not commit to keeping) mean that:
TODAY: eligible working parents of 2-year-olds GET 15 hours of childcare support
6 APRIL 2024: child benefit threshold INCREASED to £60,000
SEPTEMBER 2024: 15 hours childcare EXTENDED to eligible parents of children from 9-months old
