Earlier today in the House of Commons, I referenced the tea party at Alton Towers hosted by North Staffordshire MPs for Ukrainians here on the Homes for Ukraine Scheme and their sponsors.
At the Tea Party, we were addressed by Ukrainian MP, Olga Stefanishyna, who lost her husband in the war and her children are now being cared for in the UK. She stressed the importance to getting aid and military equipment to the front line in Ukraine as urgently as possible. I asked the Foreign Secretary about what diplomatic steps he is doing to ensure that our allies hear that message.
The Foreign Secretary noted the generosity of the people in Newcastle who have sponsored Ukrainians, doing their bit for Ukraine. The Foreign Secretary then stated what the Government are doing for Ukraine with military aid, economic aid and reconstruction aid. The Foreign Secretary also said that the Government are rousing our international colleagues to provide Ukrainians with the tools they need to defend themselves against Putin's illegal invasion.
