In light of the story in today's Sentinel, which I know will worry constituents, I would now like to make public my letter, which I sent to Staffordshire County Council in July of last year, objecting to planning permission on a quarry next to the A500.
Joe Frizell, of Crewe Road, Shavington, was recently convicted for his part in an illegal waste operation at Bonnie Braes Farm which saw at least 100,000 tonnes dumped between March 1, 2014 and June 30, 2015. Joe Frizell was also a director of The Old Red Developments Ltd, which submitted plans to resume Etruria marl extraction at Bradwell West Quarry last year. But Frizell resigned from the company on April 2 - the day he was sentenced - after he was disqualified from being a director for six years.
The Old Red Developments is proposing to extract up to 200,000 tonnes of minerals annually for around 17 years, with subsequent restoration infilling at the site, next to the A500. Staffordshire County Council has not yet made a decision on the proposal, but the authority confirmed that it was still a live application, and further information was being sought from the applicant.
I sent a letter of objection to the council in July last year (as per the screenshots), but did not make this public at the time as criminal proceedings were ongoing.
