The Environment Agency have provided their weekly update on Walley's Quarry landfill, a day earlier than usual.
They have reconfirmed the two breaches as published in their press release on Monday (https://facebook.com/…/p…/a.110583077010891/676889250380268/).
The Hydrogen Sulphide annoyance-threshold-breach levels have gone up at the monitoring station at Newcastle-under-Lyme Fire Station (13%) and the station at Galingale View (18%). The EA received 720 odour reports over the last week.
The EA has confirmed they are looking into the cause of the increase of H2S and complaints. I have written to them to query whether they believe the number of complaints last week (69) is accurate, seeing as it were so many more this week, and 446 two weeks ago.
They have also addressed concerns that a small number of confirmation emails were sent without an incident reference number, or had inaccurate reporting time details. This has now been rectified and all complaint reports were still logged and counted.
