I met with Councillors Simon Tagg and Derrick Huckfield this morning following a meeting they had with the Environment Agency.
Derrick shared with me his proposals which he issued to the Environment Agency; he has also shared these with the Borough and County Councils. The EA have promised a response to these within 10 days.
I have also attached screenshots of the Environment Agency's latest update on Walley's Quarry, which is out now (see link below).
I am pleased that they have arranged another virtual community session on Wednesday 9 June at 18.00. I will share the details of how to join when they are made available.
The levels of odour we are experiencing are still completely unacceptable. The data from the monitoring station at Galingale is above the WHO's odour annoyance guideline level for 47% of the time, yet levels have also risen on the other side of the landfill, reflecting changes in the prevailing wind direction. Derrick mentioned just how bad Silverdale had been over the Bank Holiday weekend, and I have seen further complaints from pubs on social media as well.
