Walley's Quarry landfill was on ITV News last night following my question to the Prime Minister on Wednesday.
At PMQs the Prime Minister promised permanent capping at the site. This permanent capping of the largest cell is expected to reduce the odours coming from the landfill. Subsequent planned phases will be much smaller and are expected to be completed more quickly, reducing the potential for odour nuisance.
As I said in the interview, I would still like to see the Environment Agency revoke the permit entirely and regulate the site more robustly, especially in light of the Category 1 breaches. I will continue to press the EA to do this.
