Best wishes to everyone attending the protest outside Walley's Quarry tomorrow, which is starting at 10am. I hope it passes off well and peacefully - thank you again to Staffordshire Police for their co-operation and attendance.
I will unfortunately be unable to be there in person, as I am self-isolating with my family after my wife contracted Covid. However, neighbouring MP Jo Gideon (Stoke-on-Trent Central) will be attending. I know that the odour frequently reaches into her constituency at the hospital, and beyond into Penkhull and Hartshill. She has been very supportive at Westminster and in my dialogue with the Environment Agency.
I know how frustrating this ongoing issue is. It is not fair that people are having to live like this, particularly those who are already suffering from pre-existing conditions. Your voices are being heard, by me, by the media, and by those responsible for resolving the situation.
I have had further online meetings about the quarry this week and will be pushing for an in-person public meeting as soon as possible.
