
For seventy years the Queen has been the ultimate symbol of what it means to be British. Her steadfast leadership and unwavering service through good and bad has been an inspiration to so many.
The whole country is celebrating this historic occasion with a double Bank Holiday, today and tomorrow, making a 4-day Platinum Jubilee weekend. The Government have also extended licensing hours so people can celebrate the Jubilee in pubs and bars across England and Wales.
There is lots going on around Newcastle, from street parties to entertainment in the town centre (see here for more), and here is a run-down of the national events:
