The Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Minister and I were disappointed not to be able to visit the Ibstock Brick - Official factory in Chesterton on Monday.
The Government has released the UK’s first ever net-zero strategy for industry to help vital manufacturers, like Ibstock Brick, to decarbonise and at the same time, support jobs.
The strategy sets out how industry can decarbonise whilst remaining competitive and without pushing emissions abroad. The £350 million Industrial Energy Transformation Fund will support businesses with high energy use to cut bills and reduce carbon emissions.
This is part of the Government's commitment to cutting greenhouse gas emissions by 78 per cent by 2035 [compared to 1990 levels] and a wider aim of net zero emissions by 2050.
The Government's 10 point plan brings together £12 billion Government investment as well as three times more private investment by 2030. This will support over 250,000 green jobs.
