We're accelerating the COVID vaccine roll-out across the whole UK & I'm delighted that we will offer a vaccine to all over-50s by May.
The rollout is already an extraordinary success nationally and locally, with over 200,000 vaccine doses already given in Staffordshire. Yesterday we reached the milestone of 12m doses nationally, and we are on course to meet our target of covering the top 4 priority groups by February 15th. We have every reason to celebrate - each jab is one step closer to normality.
I am in regular discussions with local and national NHS leaders and have been assured that there is a robust process in place to deliver the vaccinations, and to contact everyone in the most at risk groups as quickly as possible.
The NHS will continue to prioritise people most at risk, based on the national guidance. The full priority list for phase one is below:
Residents in a care home for older adults and staff working in care homes for older adults
All those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers
️ All those 75 years of age and over
All those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals (not including pregnant women and those under 16 years of age)
