I am aware a number of constituents have received legal letters from solicitors representing Walley's Quarry Ltd & Red Industries. BBC Midlands Today covered this story yesterday evening.
Sending letters such as these seems to be Walley’s Quarry Limited’s standard operating procedure and I do not think they are helping the situation. In standing up for the community, I have also received legal letters in the past, as have other elected representatives, such as Councillors Derrick Huckfield & Simon Tagg.
Unfortunately, as a Member of Parliament I cannot provide anyone with legal advice. Should you consider this necessary, you should either speak to a solicitor or to Citizens Advice who can be reached on 01782 201234.
Despite their claims in the BBC piece, I do not believe the operator is engaging with the community in the right way, and they are not addressing the many legitimate concerns of residents. I have asked for them to do this numerous times, as has the Environment Agency.
Red Industries / Walley's Quarry Limited need to apologise to everyone affected, and set out what reparations they intend to make to the community and to individuals.
