Good luck to Newcastle-under-Lyme resident and Keele University graduate student Elliott Lancaster who is competing in the inaugural Global Student Prize, an offshoot of the well-established Global Teacher Prize.
Elliott is one of only two British finalists in this world wide competition, which is at the final 50 stage - which will be reduced to a shortlist of 10 tomorrow. Elliott is a very impressive young man, serving on multiple charities and committing thousands of hours in volunteering whilst maintaining brilliant grades in his studies. You can read about his incredible achievements and initiatives here: https://www.globalteacherprize.org/person?id=15079
I invited Elliott up to Manchester last week to meet the new Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi at conference. We had a good discussion about the competition, Elliott's passion for the environment, and his education as a whole.
Both the Education Secretary and I have our fingers crossed for you tomorrow Elliott!
UPDATE: the top 10 have been announced and Elliott has made it! Huge congratulations - https://www.globalteacherprize.org/global-s…/2021-finalists/
