This year’s G7 Summit has begun in Cornwall.
The G7 is a Group of advanced economies consisting of the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, France, Germany, Italy and Japan. Other countries and governments are invited to the meetings.
This summit has a focus on recovery from the pandemic, both in terms of vaccines and the economy, as well as on the environment.
I am also very pleased that the Prime Minister has agreed a new ‘Atlantic Charter’ with President Biden, pledging to work together with the United States to tackle global challenges and build a more prosperous future based on our shared values.
The new 'Atlantic Charter' will outline eight key areas of cooperation, including defending democracy, tackling climate change, strengthening global defence as well as supporting the world’s recovery from the pandemic.
