The Christmas gift appeal event is an annual event and has been in place for some 10 years now - it is growing in popularity and is now focused on the needs of families who struggle at Christmas and local charities that act to support such families. Gifts are donated by local businesses and then distributed via local charities.
The appeal has many donors, but the main sponsor has historically been Tesco. They were joined this year by Allied Bakeries - the makers of Kingsmill - who operate the bakery in Chesterton.
It was great meeting the team in charge and to see all of the donations made. Everyone should enjoy the magic of Christmas and I am glad that the appeal means local disadvantaged children can do so. Thank you to all those involved and especially all those who have donated.
