I was pleased to meet with a group of local supporters (including John and Phil, pictured) from the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) on Friday to discuss important global issues relating to climate change and poverty.
CAFOD is an international development charity and the official aid agency of the Catholic Church in England and Wales. They are campaigning to rebuild a better world as we recover from the pandemic.
I am delighted that the UK is hosting both the G7 summit in Cornwall and COP26 in Glasgow this year. The G7 next month will be an opportunity for leaders of the world to address shared global challenges including climate change and the Covid-19 pandemic. Later in the year, COP26 will create an opportunity to further drive our ambitious environmental targets and our international ambition to unite the world to agree coordinated action to tackle climate change.
I will continue to closely monitor the Government's work in the run up to both the G7 and COP26 as the UK continues to play a world-leading role in tackling climate change.
