It was really great to drop in to the #BigBangFair last Thursday and speak with so many enthusiastic pupils, teachers and industry reps about the importance of STEM subjects.
I also discussed my role on the Science and Technology Committee and the inquiry we have been carrying out into diversity & inclusion in STEM.
The Big Bang Fair took place, for the first time since before Covid, from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 June 2022 at the NEC, Birmingham.
The Fair featured lots of quality hands-on activities to inspire young people to discover and explore what a career in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) can offer. Some of the biggest names in STEM were exhibiting at this year’s event, including Unboxed, Rolls Royce, the Army and the NHS.
Over the 3 days, students had the opportunity to hear first-hand from exciting scientists and engineers and connect with inspiring career role models, including The Engineering Baker and Bake-Off finalist, Andrew Smyth, Mission 44’s Stephanie Travers and Climate Scientist Sammie Buzzard.
